CDR, or the City of the Dharma Realm, is a buddhist organization. The founder was Venerable Dharma Master Hsuan Hua, who brought the proper dharma to the west. He was a direct lineage from Bodhidharma, who brought the dharma from India to China. You can learn more about master Hsuan Hua and his teaching in the Dharmapage. In the Branches page you can find a list of the our associated buddhist organizations in many cities around the world. To learn about the different events that we host, you can take a look at the Events page. In it you will also see our monthly calendar. Located in West Sacramento, CA, on a plot of land that's about 13 acres, CDR is a large place and has multiple missions in accordance to master Hsuan Hua's teaching. One of our main missions is education of the younger generation. We offer a Chinese language class, Summer camp, and are actively planning a K-12 school that, in addition to teaching the regular school curriculum, has the goal of instilling goodness and developing virtue in our children. You can read about that in the Education page. Traditional Chinese and Vietnamese buddhists were vegetarians. We see that as an important part of our buddhist practice. Healthy body and mind and the environment can all be directly linked to vegetarianism. You can read about it in the Vegetarian page and see photos of some delicious dishes that make us happy vegetarians here. If you live nearby and wish to visit or contact us, you are welcome. To get the contact information, please go to the About Us page. At CDR, we greet each other with the word "AMITUOFO", that's Chinese for Amitabha Buddha, the name of the Buddha in the Western Pure Land where there's no suffering. AMITUOFO.
