Cultivation On Campus
The Sagely City of Dharma Realm (CDR) is an orthodox Buddhist bodhimandala in which the Buddha’s teachings are investigated and practiced daily. There are five schools of Buddhist teaching, which include the Dhyana School, the Teaching School; the Vinaya School; the Secret School; the Pure Land School. These five schools constitute the various methods of practice or dharma doors for cultivation in traditional Buddhism, yet each is perfect in its own right. Equally important are the daily practices at the temple which include mantra recitation, sutra recitation, investigation of dhyana, sitting meditation, sutra lectures with supplemental teaching material, upholding of precepts, Buddha recitation, and repentance bowing. Each day begins at 3:30 am and ends at 9:30 pm. As it is said, cultivation is not apart from one’s daily practices.
