Medicine Buddha's Jeweled Repentance
With the start of the New Lunar Year, The City of Dharma Realm begins with the Medicine
Buddha’s Jeweled Repentance, lighting lamps to make offerings to the buddhas, eliminating calamities and accumulating blessings for a long and healthy life, bringing auspiciousness to all. The Mantra for Quelling Disasters and Bringing Auspiciousness Dharma Session takes place on the first three days of the lunar first month, to pray for temperate weather, prosperous and harmonious nation and a peaceful world. In addition, other dharma sessions including the the Avalokitesvara Session, the Earthstore Bodhisattva Session, the Amitabha Session, all of which include reciting the respective dharma door sutras, chanting the sagely name of the respective bodhisattvas, to focus one’s minds within a seven-day period, and to vigorously cultivate. With the utmost sincerity, one would certainly attain responses.
Bathing Buddha Day
The eighth day of the lunar fourth month is the world-honored Shakyamuni Buddha’s birthday. Every year on this day, The City of Dharma Realm holds a celebration, “Bathing Buddha Day”, in honor of Shakyamuni Buddha and to express one’s gratitude for the Buddha’s kindness and compassion. Bathing Buddha Day is a significant event in Buddhism.
The Commemoration of Venerable Master Hsuan Hua Entering Nirvana
The founder of Dharma Realm Buddhist Association, Venerable Master Hsuan Hua entered nirvana (the stillness) in 1995. A commemoration is held in the his honor every year at The City of Dharma Realm, with the recitation of The Great Expansive Flower Adornment Repentance and the Great Ceremony of Passing Offerings. These dharma sessions allow one to remember the Master’s great virtues and benevolence, to forge ahead to carry on the tradition and propagate the Proper Dharma.
